It was a sunny Sunday

Sunny winter Sundays... I adore them...
If I haven't headed out to go "somewhere"
I enjoy a day indoors with the sun streaming through the windows..
As was this day in May....
I was working ..
when one's works for oneself
and from a home base..
work is there to take whatever day and time one wants !

You need to enjoy your own company for a while as you concentrate on what it is you create...
Then times when one stands up to flex all the muscles
and take a look around the rooms..

There are times when it is very busy and creativity needs to be a constant....and needs to be long hours...working.
and if there are so many orders...there are times when
the darn work is always there staring back at you...
beckoning you....
I at times turn my back & head out the door..
I have no boss to chase after me... to see if I am working...

Funny that reminds me in a public service dept I worked in....in one era the organisation went through
a TIME & MOTION study..
each work unit was measured for timeframes...
toilet breaks were factor in...
and at the end of a week everyone's worksheets were collected
and all productivity was measured..for the section
At the time in early 70's it made sense..
Today it seems such an imposition & devoid of human understanding ...
..........
However when one does work for oneself......
work coming in is unpredictable....
feast  & famine comes to mind....
No roaming at those times...
Post office & food supplies are the feature of days & days..
Juggling time is important as is being able to know how much one can do....
and
then there are times one wants to do some new things....
and they  may wait a while...
The choices are one's to make ....
or
something throws one off course...
no staff to blame  or boss to grumble about....
just us.....!

Cones of happiness

Getting ready for a show is the most
creative
 &
lateral thinking
as well as
complete distraction...
times.
**&&**
It is for me the place where new discoveries are happened...
I can take off on my very own journey...
risk is totally mine...

These were some trivia of last night...
****
I also have some new desires
 forming...
transforming....
perhaps !

Creativity

CREATIVITY
I happened apon a TV interview last night
an artist working in beach scenes with acrylic paints
and she conversed as she painted to the interviewer.
I was interested in some of her techniques
but
was thrilled to hear this....
I cannot quote because I do not recall all
However it was in relation to so many people living stressed lives.
Mobile phones constantly on....ipads, TV driving people here & there..
that in times of stress the body makes more cortisol for the flight/fright which is required for real stress...
When the body is under excess stress it shuts down the creativity... because in high stress ( run for your life times ) the body says'creativity is redundant "
So we lose that creativity in our lives, to not only photograph, paint, sew, cook or problem solve with creativity..
Writer's block probably comes into this also...

In the world where I dwell, I don't have my mobile switched on...
I don't text walking across a road...
I don't need to be constantly ON !!!
I turn my own lights on as I walk, stand in the queque,
if I carry my camera I often take pictures of interesting buildings etc..

It has puzzled some designers  of  the lost art of creating with what we sometimes produce in a pattern.
As many of us, have been through life of craft with few tools, maybe not the fabric we'd seen in the pattern,
a couple of coloured threads & not the green indicated in pattern...
but were always able to turn our heads on the side
& apply
 some lateral thinking....
"Now what if I used this fabric & those colours & left out that bit of design & added a bead instead etc...."???
Somehow we have instinct that says ...
Give it a go.... stand back & look...think some more...
Maybe just dye it with tea....
It isn't so vital to have exactly as one has designed &  produced it.... or do that first then do it again... totally different colours... amazing.
But often I hate some colours.... if forced to use ... I can see they aren't so bad..just change combinations of tones...
and it is for personal use or in the case of authentic design it is a challenge to turn your design into another medium.....
You will see it ....
&
I love that too...it's fun .

I often ponder that oddity of people being amongst people & not engaging with them but
isolating
with their gadget...
It is as though we as a society cannot communicate on a one to one personal level...
many create conversation as I do now  through a screen...
It is like a piece of development has gone off centre....
that to be "popular" is a craving... as though
people's  core self esteem has stopped and it has been handed over to a gadget..a pacifier a dummy.
So switch off gadgets....sit down ... talk to a real person...
sew some ...play
take the time....
.....
Harder to do than to say LOL !
