I seriously need to go places with my camera

I hardly have any stock of photos....well on this computer... ready access
& maybe things have been getting well worn...
I need new subjects...
Autumn has finally arrived  and I am noticing how quickly the manchurian pear trees are turning from orange to dark burgundy.....
so beautiful.

This photo is I think is japonica  seed pods  ???
This was when I was out at Bealiba on Monday.
Some of the shrubs are very ancient...
Anyway amazing look, quite like a quince

I have planted some native shrubs in our tough stony mountain side soil...
Optimist ...I always have a dream or 2 taking shape.
I had visions of these going out the front of the property to buffer the road noise & dirt .....dust that comes in all the time. But the soil was way way too hard for me to make any dent.
So I found some sort of give in the driveway soil ..there are now 4 callistemons & one hakea..

I thought the clay soil in Canberra was tough when I began to plant there...
BUT
this old gold field beats it by a wide margin....

I was thinking in bed this morning to look up both species & they are related, quince & japonica One japonica is called Japanese quince ... so there we go.

Shame you are having cold weather, Barb xx
